Choosing a Desktop Computerhard drives and are the most cost effective computing solution on the market. Although many folks try to use only a notebook computer to run their entire business, many others find that having a desktop - if only as a solid, cost-effective back-up system - in addition to a notebook is a good business investment. So, primary or back-up, a desktop computer is probably in your business' future at some point! As with any product, we believe there are some things you should consider before you purchase a desktop computer.
Remember that this box is the foundation for everything you do - so cheap is NOT necessarily better. We instead suggest that you purchase the best system you can afford that meets your needs both now and in the foreseeable (next two to three years) future. In other words, if you just plan to generate a few text documents and do email, a 3.8 GHz system with a 500 GB hard drive is obviously over kill, however, we also don't think that buying a 3.00 GHz machine with a 80 GB hard drive is the right solution for a business involved in publishing documents that are heavy on graphics or develops or works with multimedia files. So, ready to take a look at what is out there? We've tried to hit on the majority of desktop computers and their manufacturers (again excepting the "white box" folks). In fact, the number was so large, that we had to build a separate document with all the choices on them (and relevant information). You can find this document at: Desktop Computer Detail - Product Matrix. Additionally, we've chosen our favorite desktop computer from every manufacturer. Just look for the ภ symbol!
