You can purchase and use MIVA Merchant in three ways - from a web
hosting provider whereby you simply use a web-based interface to manipulate and
manage the software or from MIVA, whereby you purchase the software and download
MIVA's Empresa virtual machine that establishes the connection between the
server and the MIVA Merchant software and load into on your company's physical
web server (not a hosted one!). In the first case, getting "started" with
the software is straight forward and relatively easy, in the second case, it's a
bit more complex.
