Simple Start-Up - นนนน 3Com includes setup/configuration and monitoring/management software with every Ethernet networking device they sell. Some are Windows utilities only, others include a web-based interface to let you manage your device - even remotely - more simply and easily. Cost - $$$ 3Com makes thirty-four (they make a variety of large more complex devices for the enterprise and service provider customers that are not outlined here) 10/100Mbps and 10/100/1000Mbps switches with twenty-four or less ports that range in price from $23.54 to $4,549.29 (including switches that support 10-Gigabit Ethernet), fourteen routers (seven that include ADSL or G.SHDSL modems) priced from $48.15 to $645.00, and four 10/100/or 1000Mbps Ethernet adapters from $95.95 to $230.37. Time Savings - นนนนน We always set aside at least 1/2 day when we're setting up a network (best case it doesn't take this long, worst case....). However, once things are up and running, problems are few and usually limited to someone tripping on a cable or pulling one out by accident. Networks are great productivity tools. Once you have one, you'll wonder how you ever lived without it! Ease of Use - @@@@ 3Com's Gateway Discovery Program, Connection Assistant and DynamicAccess software will help you get the most out of your Ethernet network. Works With - YYY1/2 With the exception of the Ethernet adapters, 3Com's networking equipment is platform independent (but often requires Windows for configuration and management software installation). The adapters are designed for Windows only. Support - ppp1/2+ 3Com's switches, hubs and routers carry lifetime limited warranties, the adapters one year warranties. The technical support area on the 3Com web site includes a searchable knowledge base, a connection assistant that includes diagnostics and troubleshooting tips and software/driver downloads. If you need more help, 3Com offers telephone ("800" number) support for the first 90 days only. After that you must purchase an extended contract or upgraded warranty to continue to have access to technical support personnel via telephone. Online service requests and email access to technical support is, however, available. Features - iiii 3Com's switches supply plenty of speed (up to 10-Gigabit) as well as prioritization of some traffic and the routers offer firewall protection including support for NAT, filters, packet inspection and VPN end-point and pass through for IPSec, PPTP and L2TP traffic (great if you are working with a larger enterprise that requires secure access to their network). Overall Rating - %%%1/2+ 3Com makes solid equipment at a good price. They've been doing this for a while, for all shapes and sizes of companies and networks. Your 3Com network will cost-effectively and reliably serve you and your business well.

Cost - $$$$ AirLink+ makes eight switches (5, 8, 16 and 24ports, 10/100 and Gigabit Ethernet) at prices from $17.99 to $105.00, one four port gateway/router at $34.99, three print servers USB 1.1 at $49.99, USB 2.0 at $9.99 and a 3 port model with 2 parallel and one USB 1.1 port at $69.99 and four adapters (we were unable to locate pricing for two PCI 10/100Mbps adapters) with the CardBus adapter priced at $14.99 and the Gigabit Ethernet PCI adapter at $24.99. Cost - $$$1/2 Asante makes fourteen switches (five to 24 ports - 10/100 to Gigabit Ethernet) that range in price from $43.99 to $2,063.99 and a bridge that links Ethernet Macintoshes to Local Talk devices at $99.00.
